Where Did The Summer Go…

August 8th, 2011

Hey All!!
Summer break goes by way too fast!! Schools are already starting this week! I guess I’m glad that I don’t have to go back to high school lol. I am taking a year off and seeing what different things God may have for me. I’ll just give you a small update of how all of my summer plans went.
Doing worship for the kids at VBX went very well and they were receptive from day one. Then I did a Vesper’s Program and had a blast, even though the audience was low in number. Going to Texas was probably the biggest thing I did. My mom and I went there for the Agape Fest, having a fun time and getting an award!!! Thank you all who voted for me because it paid off, allowing me to gain the title, “New Young Horizon”. I was nervous, but excited at the same time when the awards show was going on. Not only did we make many friends and connections, we went to Dallas and saw where JFK was assassinated. I loved doing that because I studied that in my Senior language class. Then I tried out for American Idol again for the 3rd time…I sang a more powerful song and it went better than the past two years!! They said I had a great voice, but needed a little more confidence. So who knows if that was my last time trying out or not. It was in St. Louis and we have family that lives there so it was nice to stay with them and go and try out! The first week in July was an enormous step for me in my guitar playing skills :) I helped lead worship for a high school camp and my guitar was plugged in for the first time!! It went very very well and I can’t wait to keep improving and learning!!
The weekend of the 16th I sang 4 times at a church in Decatur, IL. I sang at their 2nd Saturday night service and also three times on Sunday morning. There were many people that blessed me there and I was so honored to sing at such a big church!!! At the end of July, I sang at Morrison City Christian Church in Tennessee. This church was where my dad was the youth minister for two years, but 22 years ago ha ha. So everyone knew my mom, but not me. It is a small, but very generous and hospitable church. The following week was Youth In Ministry conference at Milligan College in TN. It was such an awesome experience because I had some time to just stop and be still and listen to God. I was so thankful of that time of solitude.
I can’t wait for God’s plans to be revealed to me since I’m not going to college this year. I may also explore acting and dancing. Please have me in your thoughts and prayers as I pray for all of you going back to school or work.

I guess this wasn’t very short, but what can I say? I was busy this summer ha ha!

Thank you so very much for supporting me through encouragement and prayer!
- Renee

Summer 2011 – What is Happening…..

June 5th, 2011

Hello fans!

I hope the month of May went smoothly for you…Mine was super busy with graduation and all. I graduated from high school on May 28th so I’m officially a graduate. Thank you for voting for the Agape Fest in Texas by the way, but I don’t find results until the actual Agape Fest.

On May 15th, I was honored to sing at Vermillion Heights Christian Church in Danville, IL. I was very blessed there and happy that I had that great opportunity. The 14th of May was my last Show Choir concert, which was very sad to say the least. This year was full of closing doors and opening new ones.

May 24th, I sang about a half hour at the Southside Church of Christ Revival. There weren’t many people, but again God showed me His love there. My sister got to come with me that time and we had a great time together!

This past Sunday our youth group led the services at the ‘big people’ church. We led the worship, I did the Communion Meditation (forgot about it until the night before-Thank you God for providing the words to say lol), then we performed a silent skit. It’s called Everything by LifeHouse. If you have time, check it out on YouTube. I was the main girl being tempted and I had such a moving experience with that.

My calendar is filling up this summer with me being home only three weeks out of the summer. Next week is VBX at Sherwood Christian Church in Bloomington, IN. Our Coffee House band did the music for the kids last year and we’re doing it again this year and I’m very excited to help. I am singing at our Vermillion County fair pageant and at a Vesper’s Program. The Agape Fest takes place at the end of June. That’s pretty much June for you and I’ll update you again after all these events have taken place.

That’s only one month out of this year and all of my months are pretty busy. My schedule starts to slow down after September, but my dad said we will be booking things so it won’t be as slow as the winter of 2010. I’m hoping God will open many more doors for me and will show me where I’m supposed to go since I’m not going to college in the fall. I’m just going and letting God lead me. Please pray for my guidance and strength as I trust in God alone on this musical journey.

Thank you so much for your support and prayers!

What is New With Renee :)

January 18th, 2011

Hey awesome fans!

This is the first time I’m saying hi to you all in the New Year! Happy late New Year by the way lol. The Christmas Eve service went very well and it was cool singing right when it turned to Christmas Day! The following Sunday after that, my dad and I sang a special at his home church in Michigan! It was great! That week I recorded three new songs for YouTube…you should check them out. We just got a really sweet new camera, so hopefully I’ll be doing new songs very soon (any suggestions?).

NOW! I have two exciting things to tell you about (which if you are on my Facebook page, then you already know)! First, I went to Terre Haute, IN and participated in a talent show. I proceeded to the next round which will be next Tuesday and if you live close enough, you should definitely come! It’s $3 for students and $5 for adults. That night, the top 5 or 6 will be chosen to be aired on channel TEN news! I will get back you when I find out if I made it in the top! Please pray for this event :)

SECOND, I found out last week that I was in the top 10 for the Agape Fest. The winners are all picked by public voting – that means YOU! Please help me – go to my facebook page and the link is there to vote.

God Bless you in the New Year,
Love Renee!

Christmas Break….Finally :)

January 18th, 2011
Hey All!

It’s Christmas Break and I’m excited!! Wow! The year of 2010 is almost over  There have been so many great things that have happened and I thank God for them. I hope you all had a great 2010!

The last thing I mentioned last time was Stateline Christian Church. The next thing on my agenda was the fall play at my high school. It was The Curious Savage. I played a very ditsy character and I had to come out of my shell, and it was so much fun!! We had great crowds both nights, and it didn’t come together until the last day of practice! It put us all on edge, but it ended up being probably the best play we’ve done as seniors together.

The weekend of November 14 was the next church I sang at. It was ClarksHill Christian Church. I was sick, but made it through with God’s help. I sang one song and then did a thirty minute session for their Sunday School. It was a very great experience when they had the elders come up and pray for me. I told my testimony and they said that I was a great example of ministry. That experience touched my heart in a good way. I haven’t sang in any churches since then, but hope to get in many churches in the new year.

After Thanksgiving, I sang with Quentin at his church and that was fun because we learned the song the day before. It was kind of stressful, but fun to learn on my toes lol. I hope your Thanksgiving was as great as mine!

I had a great opportunity to sing in the adult choir on December 4th and 5th. So I became legal, turning 18 on December 2nd and then had to sing on my birthday weekend. I also had to take the SAT on that weekend! It wasn’t that fun, but I did get to go shopping with my sister in Evansville.

On December 7th, I sang the Christmas Song, Holy Night, and a duet with my dad at the Republican Christmas dinner. That following Sunday, some of the high school girls lead carols with me at the adult services. Last week, was our holiday concerts for show choir and choir (my last Christmas concert for high school ). We also had auditions for the Wizard of Oz. I got the part of Dorthy! This musical was my first one and it’s my last one too! So I think that’s really cool.

On Christmas Eve, I am singing at the Salem United Methodist Church. I sang there last Christmas Eve at 11p.m. and I’m singing again that late. It is really fun singing right before it turns Christmas day. My family and I are going to Michigan for break! I’m very excited because we’re going skiing!  I love being on break and hanging out with family. I hope your Christmas is wonderful this year and I hope you have safe travels!

God Bless you on this Christmas break!

Love,
Renee Spencer

So Much Is Going On!!!

November 8th, 2010

Hey Everyone!

The beginning of school has been kind of crazy with school work, show choir, volleyball, fall play, and singing on weekends. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, but I need to just trust in God that He will get me through it and He has given me a wonderful support system! Thank you for all your support and prayers!

I recently did a benefit. My friend’s uncle had a stroke and his class provided a benefit for him. I was asked to sing a song or two and auction off a few of my CD’s. I was honored to sing at an event that meant so much. The next week I had a revival at West Lebanon Church of Christ from Sunday to Tuesday. I had a great time there with much encouragement. The Saturday of that week, I sang at a wedding. I sang “How You Live” by Point of Grace (There is a video of me singing this at the ICM Award Talent Show on my website or youtube page) and “Love Never Fails” by Brandon Heath. It went over very well and the wedding was beautiful.

That Sunday I sang with my boyfriend at his church in Bloomington. It went great considering that I practiced it on the way to Bloomington because the shortage of time. The following weekend, I sang at Hanging Rock Christian Assembly for their family camp for 45 minutes, having a great time even with low numbers.

On September 12th, the president and founder of HMG came and sang at our church. HMG is the company that has promoted my CD, released songs to radio, and they have been very helpful. I also sang “How You Live” by Point of Grace. That Tuesday, my dad and I traveled all the way to Rock Lake Christian Camp in Michigan. This is the camp where my dad grew up and it is still my Grandparents camp. They had me do a 45-minute concert for their seniors retreat. I got to spend time with my cousins and family that came. Wednesday evening is when we traveled back home. It was a well-spent, short trip.
On September 9th, I sang at Crossroads Christian Church in Danville, IL. I sang a couple songs in the morning and had a 30-minute concert in the evening for their Gospel Sing. It was a great experience because I felt the most comfortable and my dad said it was probably the best I’ve spoken yet. A lot of people encouraged me and I had successful sales, considering there were other artists selling their merchandise.

I’ve had many great experiences in the end of September and beginning of October. I went to the Church of Living Waters, making it the smallest church crowd I’ve sung for. I also sang the National Anthem with a friend at the Hillclimb festival.
October 10 started a great week for me! I started out by singing at Hickman Heights Christian Church in the morning and afternoon. After the lunch they provided, I sang a 30-45 minute concert. My family came and it was another great experience.

Then came our trip to Nashville, TN for the ICM Convention. It was such a blast! I participated in the talent show, two showcases, some workshops, and presented an award on Thursday evening. One of the ladies from Point of Grace was one of the judges for the talent show and I actually sang one of their songs! AH! How nerve-wracking it was! I didn’t win the talent show, but I do hold a very awesome title. Thursday night, I received the Youth In Music Award for 2010! (If you haven’t yet, get to my website and see). We made so many connections and met many great people there! We also had a fantastic time hanging out and talking about the future!

The Sunday after Fall Break, I sang at Stateline Christian Church for the morning service. This was the first church I had my trophy with me to show people!

Phew….told ya, pretty busy, but I’ve enjoyed every experience God has given me and I can’t wait to see what’s next! I just hope and pray that I can make a difference in people’s lives.

Thanks your support and caring!

Love,
Renee Spencer

School Is Now In Session….My Senior Year….

August 23rd, 2010

Hey Everyone!

Summer vacation is officially over for me. School is actually pretty easy and fun though since it’s my last year! I take two hours out of the day during school to learn guitar and piano and then I go home around 1:30. So I have a pretty easy breezy year ahead of me. This doesn’t mean I won’t be busy because I will still have volleyball, show choir, and singing to manage.

Oh yeah! Fourteen of you were just added to the list yesterday so if you would like to read any other tidbts about me you can at www.reneespencermusic.com. I really hope all of you are reading these because it just lets everyone know what I’ve been up to and I’m asking if you’d pray for my ministry. Thanks for all your support too! :)

So most of you know I tried out for American Idol. Well it didn’t work out again, but something happened in the same week. My mom and sister went with me, but only one person could stand in line with me. My mom and I waited for 12 hours until I auditioned! It was insane! The judge said that we were supposed to be competing with the past winning idols and that we needed a little more “salt and pepper” to our songs. I don’t know if it was quite worth it or not. Anyways, it was good bonding time with sis and mom. When I got back, there was an email from Jesse McCartney’s mom!!! I guess my dad talked to her also on the phone. She sent some of my songs to a recording label and asked if anyone would want to write with me. She said if any of them called to tell them I needed to get my manager on the phone. She is agreeing to be my manager, but we haven’t signed papers yet. Ginger McCartney is verbally my manager!! :) Shhhhh

The next weekend my family and I went up to Michigan for Christmas in July. It was a lot of fun to hang out with family. On Sunday, I got to sing four songs at Bailey Christian Church. At this church I sold the most CD’s in one place: 27! It was very exciting! :)

On August 7th, I sang the National Anthem and America the Beautiful at a Tea Party in Fowler Park. There weren’t a lot of people there, but I was prepared for anything. Then my boyfriend and I traveled to Cicero, IN. We both sang with their worship band in the morning and I also sang three specials with the band. We then went to a picnic with a lot of people from their church. That night we both sang songs at a campground for their church. It was loads of fun even though the numbers were low. My spirit was lifted by God and it was the most comfortable I was with both talking and singing.

Two weekends ago was our second tour date in Florida! :) The first night was in Lakeland and the second night was Sebring. I sang three songs with two guitars and my boyfriend and dad sang backup (the vids are posted already). It was such a blast!! :) I sang American Honey with two of my songs. I loved learning and singing that song. It was such a great experience and nice vacation right before school started. :)

I hope all of your summers are going great or went great! If you have anything you’d like to ask, question, or comment you can email me back: renee@reneespencermusic.com. You can email also just to say hello. I would like to hear from you!

Have a great rest of summer,

A Mid-Summer Activities Update

July 11th, 2010

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are having a great summer break. I know I am! I’ve had a lot going on, as most of you know, but some of you just joined my fanlist. So if you ‘new’ fans want to check out my older blogs, you can check them out on my website: www.reneespencermusic.com

So two weeks ago, I went to Michigan to visit my cousins (and fave Uncle). We all went to CIY (Christ In Youth), which was located in Holland, MI at Hope College. We had such a blast and learned so much that week. I participated in their talent show. There were about twenty people who competed, and some were pretty good. I won and got to sing in front of about 2,000 people at one of the evening worship sessions. It was such a great experience and it was fun too!

This past week was the North American Christian Convention in Indy. It was a long week, but we made many great contacts and handed out lots of press kits. One of the contacts we made was with the director of a teen girls mentoring program called, Get Real Inc. We booked a date in February 2011 to lead worship at one of their events. Even though we sat all day long, for three days at a booth in the exhibit hall, my family and I had a fun time talking and hanging out with eachother. One of my dad’s friends, from his college days, worked it out for me to sing a song on the exhibit hall music stage, which I appreciated! I also met some of you ‘new’ fans there at the convention and it was awesome talking with you all!

This weekend I’ll be traveling to Nashville, TN to tryout for American Idol. I didn’t really want to tell a lot of people, but I guess I’ll let you guys in on the secret since you are here supporting me. I tried out last year and didn’t make it, but I just wanted to try again this year to give it another chance. I figure it’s best to try than not at all.

Thanks for the continued support and I hope you get a chance to listen to a radio interview I had an opportunity to do in June with a DJ from WXML. There’s a link to it on my Facebook page or in the music player on my website. Also, remember to check out my calendar on my website so you know where I’ll be next!

Thank you for listening or reading ha ha!

God Bless,
Renee Spencer

Renee Spencer Summertime News !!!

June 15th, 2010

Hey Fans!

It’s officially summertime!!! I’m so relieved that it’s summer break! WOW! A lot has happened this past year and even this summer already!

First of all, my song “A Few Things” is climbing the Christian Country charts! It’s in the top 20 at number 17 on the Powersource Charts. I’m very excited about that and I really hope it keeps moving up! Please download it and feel free to pass it on to others A Few Things

I’ve had a couple radio interviews so far and one really big one with WXML 90.1 FM. It was about twenty minutes long and you can check it out printed in their newsletter – Interview/Article.

Last weekend was Celebrate Good Times. Jesse McCartney’s mom, Ginger McCartney, came all the way from LA to see me and talk to me. I was so honored to have her in my house. We talked about many opportunities I might have in the future. I was so stressed and overwhelmed, but she is interested in helping me and my career. She is sending me to Florida to write with one of her writing friends which will be an awesome experience! She gave me some critiques and tips and she hopes to get the train moving lol.

This past week I helped with a Vacation Bible School in Bloomington, IN at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. It was a lot fun singing for little kids and encouraging them to stand strong in their faith. There were close to 900 people there every day! I hope to get a chance to sing there at one of their morning church services soon.

“Take Me Deeper” was released last month and as far as I know it’s doing pretty well. You can also download this one Take Me Deeper

Right now I am involved with the Rockville community theatre. We have three performances this week for the musical Annie. I am a Boylan sister, star to be, a hoovervillian, and a servant. This week is tech week and it went actually pretty smooth for the first night last night. It’s really relaxing just to be in the chorus and have a lot of fun and goof around. Come and see it this weekend in Rockville!

This last Sunday, June 13, I did a sermon and song at North Christian Church in Markleville, IN. I sang 8 songs and spoke a little here and there. It was a very small church, but the most generous church I’ve been to yet. They took up a love offering and many CDs were sold.

Most of my summer is full of events with singing and I’m just trying to relax and enjoy the time I have off. Right now we are planning for me to sing in churches on Sundays. On July 25th, I will be singing at one of my family’s churches in Bailey, Michigan. The week before school is when I go to Florida to write songs and the weekend after is the next tour date scheduled. It will be held in Seebring, Fl. I’m very thrilled to be singing in Florida with the same people I did in Muncie and finally with a band too!

Thanks for following me and to keep updated keep checking my website: Renee Homepage or Facebook Page

Keep it real,

Renee Spencer
