School Is Now In Session….My Senior Year….

August 23rd, 2010

Hey Everyone!

Summer vacation is officially over for me. School is actually pretty easy and fun though since it’s my last year! I take two hours out of the day during school to learn guitar and piano and then I go home around 1:30. So I have a pretty easy breezy year ahead of me. This doesn’t mean I won’t be busy because I will still have volleyball, show choir, and singing to manage.

Oh yeah! Fourteen of you were just added to the list yesterday so if you would like to read any other tidbts about me you can at www.reneespencermusic.com. I really hope all of you are reading these because it just lets everyone know what I’ve been up to and I’m asking if you’d pray for my ministry. Thanks for all your support too! :)

So most of you know I tried out for American Idol. Well it didn’t work out again, but something happened in the same week. My mom and sister went with me, but only one person could stand in line with me. My mom and I waited for 12 hours until I auditioned! It was insane! The judge said that we were supposed to be competing with the past winning idols and that we needed a little more “salt and pepper” to our songs. I don’t know if it was quite worth it or not. Anyways, it was good bonding time with sis and mom. When I got back, there was an email from Jesse McCartney’s mom!!! I guess my dad talked to her also on the phone. She sent some of my songs to a recording label and asked if anyone would want to write with me. She said if any of them called to tell them I needed to get my manager on the phone. She is agreeing to be my manager, but we haven’t signed papers yet. Ginger McCartney is verbally my manager!! :) Shhhhh

The next weekend my family and I went up to Michigan for Christmas in July. It was a lot of fun to hang out with family. On Sunday, I got to sing four songs at Bailey Christian Church. At this church I sold the most CD’s in one place: 27! It was very exciting! :)

On August 7th, I sang the National Anthem and America the Beautiful at a Tea Party in Fowler Park. There weren’t a lot of people there, but I was prepared for anything. Then my boyfriend and I traveled to Cicero, IN. We both sang with their worship band in the morning and I also sang three specials with the band. We then went to a picnic with a lot of people from their church. That night we both sang songs at a campground for their church. It was loads of fun even though the numbers were low. My spirit was lifted by God and it was the most comfortable I was with both talking and singing.

Two weekends ago was our second tour date in Florida! :) The first night was in Lakeland and the second night was Sebring. I sang three songs with two guitars and my boyfriend and dad sang backup (the vids are posted already). It was such a blast!! :) I sang American Honey with two of my songs. I loved learning and singing that song. It was such a great experience and nice vacation right before school started. :)

I hope all of your summers are going great or went great! If you have anything you’d like to ask, question, or comment you can email me back: renee@reneespencermusic.com. You can email also just to say hello. I would like to hear from you!

Have a great rest of summer,

Renee Spencer

A Mid-Summer Activities Update

July 11th, 2010

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are having a great summer break. I know I am! I’ve had a lot going on, as most of you know, but some of you just joined my fanlist. So if you ‘new’ fans want to check out my older blogs, you can check them out on my website: www.reneespencermusic.com

So two weeks ago, I went to Michigan to visit my cousins (and fave Uncle). We all went to CIY (Christ In Youth), which was located in Holland, MI at Hope College. We had such a blast and learned so much that week. I participated in their talent show. There were about twenty people who competed, and some were pretty good. I won and got to sing in front of about 2,000 people at one of the evening worship sessions. It was such a great experience and it was fun too!

This past week was the North American Christian Convention in Indy. It was a long week, but we made many great contacts and handed out lots of press kits. One of the contacts we made was with the director of a teen girls mentoring program called, Get Real Inc. We booked a date in February 2011 to lead worship at one of their events. Even though we sat all day long, for three days at a booth in the exhibit hall, my family and I had a fun time talking and hanging out with eachother. One of my dad’s friends, from his college days, worked it out for me to sing a song on the exhibit hall music stage, which I appreciated! I also met some of you ‘new’ fans there at the convention and it was awesome talking with you all!

This weekend I’ll be traveling to Nashville, TN to tryout for American Idol. I didn’t really want to tell a lot of people, but I guess I’ll let you guys in on the secret since you are here supporting me. I tried out last year and didn’t make it, but I just wanted to try again this year to give it another chance. I figure it’s best to try than not at all.

Thanks for the continued support and I hope you get a chance to listen to a radio interview I had an opportunity to do in June with a DJ from WXML. There’s a link to it on my Facebook page or in the music player on my website. Also, remember to check out my calendar on my website so you know where I’ll be next!

Thank you for listening or reading ha ha!

God Bless,
Renee Spencer

Renee Spencer Summertime News !!!

June 15th, 2010

Hey Fans!

It’s officially summertime!!! I’m so relieved that it’s summer break! WOW! A lot has happened this past year and even this summer already!

First of all, my song “A Few Things” is climbing the Christian Country charts! It’s in the top 20 at number 17 on the Powersource Charts. I’m very excited about that and I really hope it keeps moving up! Please download it and feel free to pass it on to others A Few Things

I’ve had a couple radio interviews so far and one really big one with WXML 90.1 FM. It was about twenty minutes long and you can check it out printed in their newsletter – Interview/Article.

Last weekend was Celebrate Good Times. Jesse McCartney’s mom, Ginger McCartney, came all the way from LA to see me and talk to me. I was so honored to have her in my house. We talked about many opportunities I might have in the future. I was so stressed and overwhelmed, but she is interested in helping me and my career. She is sending me to Florida to write with one of her writing friends which will be an awesome experience! She gave me some critiques and tips and she hopes to get the train moving lol.

This past week I helped with a Vacation Bible School in Bloomington, IN at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. It was a lot fun singing for little kids and encouraging them to stand strong in their faith. There were close to 900 people there every day! I hope to get a chance to sing there at one of their morning church services soon.

“Take Me Deeper” was released last month and as far as I know it’s doing pretty well. You can also download this one Take Me Deeper

Right now I am involved with the Rockville community theatre. We have three performances this week for the musical Annie. I am a Boylan sister, star to be, a hoovervillian, and a servant. This week is tech week and it went actually pretty smooth for the first night last night. It’s really relaxing just to be in the chorus and have a lot of fun and goof around. Come and see it this weekend in Rockville!

This last Sunday, June 13, I did a sermon and song at North Christian Church in Markleville, IN. I sang 8 songs and spoke a little here and there. It was a very small church, but the most generous church I’ve been to yet. They took up a love offering and many CDs were sold.

Most of my summer is full of events with singing and I’m just trying to relax and enjoy the time I have off. Right now we are planning for me to sing in churches on Sundays. On July 25th, I will be singing at one of my family’s churches in Bailey, Michigan. The week before school is when I go to Florida to write songs and the weekend after is the next tour date scheduled. It will be held in Seebring, Fl. I’m very thrilled to be singing in Florida with the same people I did in Muncie and finally with a band too!

Thanks for following me and to keep updated keep checking my website: Renee Homepage or Facebook Page

Keep it real,

Renee Spencer

Radio releases, concerts, and much more…

April 28th, 2010

Hey fans!!

There have been very exciting things happening to me these last couple of months!! A couple saturdays ago I sang at Hanging Rock Christian Camp and I sold more than 30 CD’s!! This has been the most selling event i’ve sung at yet!! Hopefully I will sell more this Saturday in Muncie, IN. This is my first tour date and you can still make it if you want and you can buy tickets at the door. The doors open at five. This weekend will be the biggest concert yet so I’m nervous and excited for it!

I released my song “A Few Things” in January and it made the top 100 debuting at #77, to #48, and is currently at #35! :) I have had some opportunities for radio interviews
over the phone and they were great experiences. I have been in Powersource magazine with album reviews and ads of my radio release. It’s been an awesome journey so far and I see it getting more exciting starting this summer.

They are planning on realeasing one of my other songs, “Take Me Deeper”, to 1,000 different contemporary christian stations. I hope my song will be played a lot and will touch people’s lives. This song will be released in the month of May. So I can’t wait to see where it will go!

I am currently busy with getting ready for my show choir concert and Noteable Evening. I will be singing “Let it Be” by John Lenon and hopefully playing piano. This night
will take place on May 8th.

If you hear my song on any radio station please let me know! I will keep you updated with the latest news and you can check my website whenever you can:

Spring Has Sprung

March 17th, 2010

Heyyy everyone!!

I am finally done with the Sound of Music! It’s kind of sad, but I’m happy at the same time. It was very time consuming, but it all paid off and everyone did amazing! We had a total of seven performances – even performing three in one day. Whew, that was tiring! It was really fun to do it for the different elementary schools that came in. They look up to us and draw pictures for us. It’s really cute. I was very excited to see a lot of my family members there supporting me. I will post pics and vids when I get them done.

Ginger McCartney (Jesse McCartney’s mom) has been talking to us. She really ejoys my CD and was set to fly here from California to come and see the performance on saturday Just my luck, her flight got cancelled. I talked to her on the phone though!! She said that she would maybe come and see me in April or May. Ginger might be writing some songs with me and showcasing them out to labels. It was very exciting to get to talk with her.

My next singing engagement is this coming Sunday. I will be singing at my great uncle’s church in Alabama. At the end of march I will be singing at a Republican dinner party in Clinton, IN. In the middle of April I will be singing at the Hanging Rock Christian Assembly Camp in Lebanon, IN. At the camp, I will be putting on a mini concert for the ladie’s retreat. At the end of April or first of May will be the first city tour concert. We will be going to Muncie, IN at Ball State University. You can check out dates and info at www.faithfamilycountrytour.com. Dates and cities are subject to change so you may need to check website more than once for changes :) . I’m very excited to get the tour on the road and hang out with other inspirational singers and my family. I’m also looking forward to living out my dream of performing and singing and inspiring others. I can’t wait for this to start!! :)

Thanks for being supportive and I hope you can check out the website and maybe come to a concert!! Don’t forget that I like to hear from you too, so please leave comments here on my blog and subscribe to my youtube page (links below). You can email me at renee@reneespencermusic.com and if you go to my website, you can become a fan on my facebook, check out my videos, listen to songs, and email song ideas or website ideas.

God Bless,
Renee

Radio Interview and other things :)

February 9th, 2010

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to tell you some things about what is going on. We got a report of radio stations that played my song in January. Sixteen of them played my song 20 times or more per week, twenty or more stations played it 10-20 times per week, and sixty or more stations played it 5-10 times per week! I was so excited to see that! Tommy Brandt thinks I’ll be in the top 100 next month. Some of the radio stations requested CD giveaways and some interviews. I did my first phone interview today!! It was in Leavenworth, KS – KKLO 1410 AM. I was so nervous, but it flowed very well and it was fun! I have more interviews scheduled and we still have to contact more stations. We are probably going to be releasing another song in the spring. What song do you think I should release next?

A couple weekends ago, I placed first in all of my singing events at solo/ensemble competition. I will be going to state next weekend for my solo, quartet, and ensemble in Indy. Musical practice is coming along and I’m busy practicing lines and songs.

Earlier this week my dad talked to a guy form Homeward Bound. He said to send him a CD and I might have a possibility to go to China with them and sing!! That would be so awesome to go to China!! Well I just wanted to update you all on the new things that are going on right now in my life. :)

Thanks for suppoting me,
Renee

My Life In 2009 – Happy New Year Everyone!

December 31st, 2009

Phew! This year has gone by super fast!!!! 2009 has been full of both good and bad memories. I remember about one year ago in 2008, I had to get my wisdom teeth out and I didn’t do anything for the New Year, but this year I’m going to Indy to celebrate New Year’s!!

Okay, where to begin… there were so many school things I was involved with this past year. In the month of January, there was a winter homecoming in which I went with my friends and it was a blast! I was also involved with BPA (Business Professionals of America). I placed 3rd in district and went on to state. I could’ve received my drivers license on the 3rd of January, but I held it off until the 27th! I went to a Youth-4-Youth conference where I learned many leadership skills. I was a part of a coffee house band that tried to play at a church once a month.

In February, I participated in a solo/ensemble competition, where I placed 1st in my solo, 1st in our ensemble, and 1st in our quartet. Later in this month, I went to state for solo/ensemble, placing a 1st in my solo and our quartet. In this competition you go against yourself and judges critique your singing. I don’t know why, but I always get super nervous in front of the judges.

March was probably the most stressful month for me. I went to BPA state, where we stayed in a hotel in Indy for a couple nights and I shook the hand of Miss America, who was Miss Indiana! The next day after I got back from state, our show choir left for a cruise!! We traveled all night and day on a charter bus to New Orleans. The cruise docked from there and traveled to Cozumel, Mexico. It was my first cruise and I enjoyed it very very much! There were so many memories made on that trip. It was a 5 day cruise. The following week, I attended the academic banquet at the Beef House. This is where I got my letter jacket for having all A’s. We got out of school on the 20th for spring break. That day I went to Florida with some of my friends. This trip was a blast also!!!! There were many memories made on this trip too!! The following week was tech week for the musical. I was so stressed since I didn’t really have all of my lines down and it was time for me to have them down pat!!! I also had to kiss in this musical! I wasn’t too happy about that since I hadn’t kissed anyone yet. It turned out that during tech week, I came into character very well and got it together.

The musical we did was called “All Shook Up.” It took place the first weekend in April. Our spring concert for choir and show choir was in the middle of April. Later in April, I went to Academic Bowl, where we competed against schools in math, history, language, and art. I was on the math team and received 1st. In this month, a boy asked me out, but I wasn’t ready to date him yet. I did like him, but I just wasn’t ready for a relationship. ‘Noteable Evening’ was an event for show choir, where we did dances and songs from the fall and spring and people could also do their own song as a solo or duet or even group. I also helped out with the track team, helping with stats and such. On the 27th, I was able to drive with people!

I went to a music banquet early May. I also got a spray tan and a pedicure for my first prom ever!!! I was invited by the same guy who asked me out (his name is Quentin by the way). It was so much fun!! The day after prom, I did a car wash for CIY (Christ in Youth). I went to a Broadway production of Mary Poppins in Chicago!! It was amazing! The following week was graduation and our choir sang “Unwritten,” and I had the solo. May 26th was the start of summer break!!!

The summer was very eventful for me and was very fun!! The 29th-31st was our 30 hour famine. I was in charge of this event at our church. I advertised this at our school, getting many people to sign up. We didn’t eat food for 30 hours! The weekend was full of activities and games that kept our minds off of eating. We also were reminded of the starving children in Africa and Haiti. We packed food for Haitian children. It was a major impact on my life to be thankful for what I have. On June 6th, I started dating Quentin. Our coffee house band led worship the next day at Hanging Rock Camp. The following week, our family went to Wisconsin and Michigan for our family vacation. On the 19th, my mom and I went to Chicago, where I auditioned for American Idol. The day I actually auditioned was on the 22nd. It was a joke I thought because they only picked about 100 people out of 10 thousand!! That day, I was very sad and felt defeated. On the 23rd, my world had been turned around. When my mom and I got back home from Chicago, there was an Inspirational Country musician, by the name of Tommy Brandt, who was in Cayuga to help out with an area revival. My dad asked Tommy if he’d just listen to me sing a few songs to see if he thought I had any chance for a singing career. I met with Tommy (my producer) the next day and I sang for him. He said that I had a great voice and he wanted to help me in any way. In the same week, I went to CIY. It was very changing, both spiritually and emotionally. I grew closer to God on this trip.

In July, we went to St. Louis for the Fourth of July. We had our show choir camp in Missouri this year. Usually we go in local areas, but we drove 8 hours on a school bus this year. I went on a pontoon boat for the first time this past summer!! I went tubing also, but I hurt my leg from flipping in the air and smacking off the tube a couple of times. It hurt pretty badly! That following week was VBS. It was pretty fun with all the teens that were there. I helped with a wilderness camp and talked to 5th and 6th grade girls about God. It was a really good experience. We had another vacation to French Lick, where we had a day at the spa. It was very relaxing in our mineral baths.
The month of August started two-a-days for volleyball, which lasted for two weeks! Quentin took me to a Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, and a Kelly Clarkson concert!! They all were amazing!! Before school started again, I helped my sister with the Miss Teen of Indiana. I sang at the final competition show of this pageant. My junior year started late August, which felt weird since I felt on top of the school. Almost everyone is younger than me. Sometimes it’s hard to take in that I’m almost done with my high school career.

In the last couple months, I have been singing at many different churches in the area and at family churches in different states. The 28th of August, my family and I traveled to Nashville, TN to record half of my CD. It was an awesome opportunity for me and a great experience. I had to go back to Nashville in the first weekend of September to record the other half of my CD. I had my first photo shoot in this month and it was really fun. I also attended a purity ball with my dad and my friend and her dad. That night I promised God and my dad that I would stay pure until I get married. That was a spiritual changing night of my life.

In October, I attended the ICM conference and awards night in Nashville. It was full of experiences and events that I won’t forget. I got inducted to National Honor Society. I felt honored to be apart of that.

Our fall play, Afraid of the Dark, was the first weekend in November. I was a crazy spy, which was a different character for me to play. My first official concert was held in my church. It went over well, but I know I can do way better. I went to another Christian convention called ICYC. Our family went to St. Louis for our Thanksgiving Break.

Now, this month, December! Finally! I turned 17 on December 2nd. I auditioned in Nashville in front of record labeling companies. I also auditioned the next week for “The Sound of Music.” I received the part of Maria (the part I wanted). These next few months will be time for preparation for the musical and solo/ensemble. We also had our winter concert for choir and show choir. For Christmas Eve, I sang at a church at 11 p.m.! For Christmas Break, our family went to Michigan, where we spent time with family and had a great time!!

Throughout the year I’ve been a part of a bible study and would love to start a bible study with my friends. I believe that God has many plans for me for this coming year with all of my music. I’m excited for the New Year to begin and see what God has in store for me!! I hope this New Year is full of many changing events for me and others!

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!!!
